Christopher’s Story

On April of 2021 I found out I was pregnant!
In my heart I felt it was a boy! I found out it was a boy 2 weeks after. I also found out that my baby was gonna be born with a giant omphalocele (abdominal wall/organ protrusions). It was scary for me and my partner, Joel. Christopher was born at 6 months on September 16 2021 at Mount Sinai hospital. He weighted 600 g and had to be transported right away to SickKids hospital.
It was a very hard road of ups and downs heath wise. Christopher was in the incubator at the NiCu and we couldn’t hold him. At that moment I knew I had to trust God and the process. In September 2022 Christopher came home with a feeding tube and oxygen and now we were on our own. We learned how to take care of Christopher, learned his needs, likes and dislikes. September 2024 we received the call to go to SickKids so Christopher could get his omphalocele repaired, it was so scary. Now living at the hospital can be very stressful and costly. During our last stay at SickKids hospital, we were blessed to be referred to Sarah Tapley Foundation that approved us for financial help, that prayed for our family and listened to our concerns. I want to thank the Sarah Tapley Foundation and Abby for their continued support and good will. Thank you for supporting our family.
Love,
